Psalm 149:3 Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.
It may be difficult for the western mind to view itself as a musical instrument. The oriental mind would have no problem seeing this reality. The words translated “praise“ has two different meanings. One is directly connected to singing in hymns or noted musical expressions while the other involves the entire body praising, singing and worshiping. This praise is the giving of every thought, energy and purpose to the full expression of oneself toward the object or person of affection. It is the expression of oneself without reservation, inhibitions or regard for any restraint. This type of praise can be seen when Miriam danced before the Lord. All the women danced with her for the victory the Lord had brought them. We must see this victory in our soul and spirit. Miriam sang about it in: Ex.15:21 Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. This is a picture of the soul praising the glorious Father for throwing the horse and his rider in the sea and making us free of sin and death."
When we fully recognize what the Father and Jesus planned has come forth in our lives our souls shall rejoice without reservation or restraint.
When our spirit realizes we have resurrection life we will dance before the Lord. And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. David is a picture of the spirit expressing love and devotion to the Lord. The tabernacle had returned therefore the presence of God was in their midst. We are the tabernacle of God and his presence is in us and through us.
The timbrel and harp represent our weapons of warfare. Our weapons are not Carnal but they are spiritual; 2Cor.10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
In the book of Judges the children of Benjamin took them wives of the women that danced. Judges 21:23 And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them. Our spirit must catch our soul but our soul must dance before the Lord. Our soul and spirit must unite with the spirit of the Lord in order to bring forth the high praise of God. Let the Lord catch every part of us for then we shall return to our full inheritance and we shall repair all the cities and dwell in the city of Zion. Then will they cling to us and ask us to bring them into Zion.
Isa. 2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Isa. 35:10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isa. 24:23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously. Is not the door to praising the Lord opening to us? Isa. 30:19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.
