SAMSON PART 2: SAMSON PART 2:

We are going to go a little deeper into the difficulties of Samson’s life. His life is no different than ours. His rise and fall are very typical of many Christians lives. The women that Samson continued to have affections for represent his soul life. We have souls. It is our soul that often creates the problems in our daily walk and Christian lives. It is the soul that needs saving not our spirit which is joined to the Lord. In the garden it was Eve (soul) who was deceived and not Adam (spirit). Gen 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. My soul you took out from me gave my spirit of the tree and I did eat. 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. And the soul said, the serpent beguiled me and I did eat. The serpent seduced me mentally and morally.

This is a serious topic to deal with when we see the reality of the soul. Being seduced is the very process of life that separates us from the life of God. We are unable to think and act morally without the power of his spirit in us. Allowing our soul to control our lives sends us to prison and this is what produces death. And until we come to final process of death we cannot walk in the spirit. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. O wretched man (soul) that I am! who shall deliver me from the body (serpent) of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Rom. 7:11,24,23 If the soul maintains power over our spirit we will always break down and yield to the soul. And Adam(spirit) was not deceived, but the woman (soul) being deceived was in the transgression 1 Tim 2:14

The angel of the Lord spoke that Samson "will begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines." "He will begin to deliver ... " Begin is a word I hear a lot in the sons of God circles. “We are beginning to understand or we are beginning to realize.” Yes…Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2Tim 3:7 The soul cannot come to the knowledge of the truth until it is subject to the spirit. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be Rom. 8:7 So long as we continue to go through our Samson story living in ignorance we will never discover deliverance from the dictates of our soul. We will be like Samson. We will have partial victories but we will never be completely delivered.

If we do not deal with our soul life we will not be delivered. Instead we will look to dead things to deliver us. Out of the dead carcass came honey. The soul always looks for deliverance from things apart from itself where there is no deliverance. The soul looks for teachers and prophets to guide them to moral victory. The soul goes to meetings to occupy it thoughts from seduction. It looks to others seemingly stronger than themselves. The soul believes every strongman that comes to them with honey. The soul has no knowledge of the root of truth for the word has not been planted firmly in its ground.

The soul does not know how to try the spirits to see if they are from God so there are many strong men looking to capitalize on the soul’s weakness. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women (souls) laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 2Tim. 3:6 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Eph 4:14

Ps 25:20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee. 21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

By taking the honey out of the dead carcass of the lion Samson deceived himself and his mother to whom he gave to eat. Samson’s mother is like the church. The church remains strong to certain basic truths but she is often easily convinced by many false issues. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 2Cor.11:3. The strong man comes with convincing doctrines like dripping honey from his mouth but the end result is the drawing away from the simplicity that is in Christ and the elevation of our soul life. We become convinced that we have more knowledge than others and therefore we are more admired by God. We are given a better place of understanding not to puff us up but to cause us to love more. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

Rev.2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Leaving our first love is the leaning on knowledge and no longer depending of the love of Christ which first birthed us. If we continue to seek something that is not in us we will fall into error. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 1 John 2:20 Do you know that within you is the hope of glory? Do you know that you are the house of glory. . . But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 1 John 2:27 There is no other lion which has honey save the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.

Peter writes of an adversary called the roaring lion seeking whom he may devour who searches the land every hour seeking to rob us of our power to serve the living God. Peter exhorts us to Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8 The truth is this lion has no teeth he was de-gummed by Christ’s death at the cross. Our lesson here is to understand that in Christ we have the power to live a life of victory in our soul. The true strong man has destroyed the works of the devil. We have the power to live the life of Christ every hour we breathe.
