APE-MAN:
I refuse to walk with hands dangling like an Ape
Palms keeping time with my feet as I walk down the street
No my fingers will strum at my side and keep beat as I glide
Through life’s cycles of things I cannot escape.
My hands will not swing with the history of mankind
Nor knuckle under the idea that I evolved from the sea
For I know I am unique; my future is not oblique
Nor subject to pass thoughts left behind.
I will clap my hands and try to understand
But I won’t swing my arms like a pendulum
Throughout life my guitar will I strum
But I refuse to play like I’m dumb.
For I do not think it odd to say I came from God
While others say their shape is from an Ape
Their destiny is the ground where there’s no crown
But I will lift my hands and walk along the esplanade.
Yes, my hands will not dangling down like an Ape.
